PRODUCT REVIEW: Burt's Bees Hand Salve

My hands tend to crack at the nail edges and are usually dry due to strong hand soaps and sanitizers at work. My usual handy hand cream is L'Occitane and this is my first time to try Burt's Bees Hand Salve. I appreciate that the Burt's Bees products are all made from natural ingredients. Now let us review the Burt's Bees Hand Salve that I got. I got this sample from Sample Room.

Brand: Burt's Bees

Weight: 8.5g

Type: Hand Salve

Ingredients: (Taken at website) Olive Oil — Homer, the epic poet, called it liquid gold. Olive Oil, a centuries old Mediterranean oil, is as good for your skin as it is for your heart. Penetrates quickly for smooth, beautifully supple hands.

prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, cera alba (beeswax, cire d'abeille), helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, lavendula hybrida (lavandin) oilrosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil, eucalyptus globulus oil, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) flower oil, tocopherol, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, glycine soja (soybean) oil canola oil (huile de culza), linalool, limonene.

Product Description: Salvation for rough and dry hands.

How To Use: Massage gently into hands daily before and after activities.

Pros:
> Made from natural ingredients
> It is not greasy, applying the salve feels like you did not applied anything but you can see that the dry parts of the hands softened.
> It is not sticky so I can use my hands immediately after application
> Absorbed quickly
> After a week of continued use, it helped my dried skin heal specially on my ring finger
> Easy to bring for travel
> The container can last long

Cons:
> There is no specified expiration date and ingredients on packaging
> It has a mint like scent (But the scent reminds me of Katinko)
> Skin looks shiny after application
> Lid is hard to open
> Not so affordable

I have a dumb moment, I forgot to take a photo of before use so I can only share the after photo but trust me, my ring finger is peeling and the skin is dry and not soft. Again, I am really sorry I forgot to take a photo of before picture, I am just excited to use it already! Look at my container, even after a week of use, it is still full.

  1. I didn't know it's made mostly of olive oil since for me it smells strongly of rosemary. I'm not really satisfied in this product. This can work as cuticle cream though.

  2. I am not fond of the scent. I like the cuticle cream of Burt's Bees better. :)
