PRODUCT REVIEW: MAC'S RUBY WOO

If you can remember, I already reviewed this shade before and it is my sister's lipstick now. Lately though, I am trying out red shades just because I like it even though it does not look as appealing as nude shades when I wear it. As advised by MAC makeup artist, I can still use any shades that I want and just control the opaqueness of the color by adjusting the layers that I apply on my lips.

I am sold and I purchased Ruby Woo for myself with their Retro Matte Collection. Ruby Woo is a permanent shade but it has been reintroduced on the Retro Matte Collection. For my previous review, my photos are in low quality so I want to re-do all my MAC makeup reviews because they are my favorite makeup collection. You can read my previous post here: Ruby Woo Old Review. I did say that I will not re-purchase it because it is red and I do not wear red lipsticks as much as possible but I changed my mind. I thought that I will wear any shades that I want even though it does not look as pleasing compared to shades fitting my undertone. For basis if it can also work for you, I am a MAC NC20 user.

Pros:

Surprisingly, when I tried applying it again and again, I realized that is does not look as red as it is. I only used one layer and it looks a little orange on me. You can add layers to reach your the pigmentation that you like.

I like that its rich and bold shade and it lasts for at least 4 to 5 hours. It leaves a little uneven stain on lips when removed.

Cons:

It is because it is matte, it has a very dry texture that it tugs on my lips whenever I apply it. It causes dryness too. The lipstick settles on lip lines and creases after removal. I noticed that after a few hours, it feathers out of my lips a little even with the use of a lip liner.

SWATCH:

What do you think? Do you think I still had it in me to use it again? I hope yes. My mouth just seems a little bigger when I use red shades compared when I use nude shades. Anyway, life is too short for me to avoid wearing dark shades! Don't you think so too? :)

The sample photos below is just one layer of Ruby Woo lipstick.
