PRODUCT REVIEW: GUERLAIN'S METEORITES LIGHT REVEALING PEARLS OF POWDER - 4 DORE

Ever since I started using makeup, I already heard of Guerlain and I knew that it is a high end cosmetic line. My sister who is more addicted on makeup than me is the one who introduced me to Guerlain Meteorites in Pearls by lending me her own. I used it on a special occasion and I loved the effect on my skin! Since then, this has been included on my to buy list although purchasing it has always been delayed due to its expensive price. I thank God when I saw one from a trusted beauty items seller on Instagram that sells this brand new Guerlain Spring Edition for a really cheaper price compared to the stores. I did not hesitate to buy it.

Just looking at its shiny mirror-like silver packaging and smelling its wonderful scent makes the price worth it. (Photo above) No wonder it is one of the most coveted beauty product. I wish I could collect all the editions but as of now, I am currently satisfied with my Guerlain Meteorites.

Originally, this Guerlain Meteorites Pearl Powder in 4 Dore is supposed to be a limited edition for the Spring 2014 but it was relaunched and made permanent. Based on Guerlain's website, Guerlain Meteorites Pearls of Powder has four shades, the first one is Blanc de Perle, second is the shade Clair, the third shade is Medium and the last is Dore. The fourth shade, Dore is the darkest shade and I think it suits my skin tone as well.

Let me now share my review as well as some photos.

Brand: Guerlain

Type: Meteorites 4 Dore (Light Revealing Pearls of Powder)

Weight: 25g

Product Description: (From the insert of packaging)

In 1987, Guerlain harnessed loose powder into a constellation of multicolored pearls that reveal the secret of absolute radiance for every complexion. Guerlain Meteorites Pearls are unique, they are the product of exceptional expertise of our dedicated craftsmen. With an ethereal texture and inimitable violet fragrance, they illuminate women's beauty and have won cult status. Over the years Guerlain, a true alchemist of light, has infused the Meterorites coloured pearls with increasingly extraordinary powers. Today, the Meteorites are reinventing themselves yet again to envelope the skin in a halo of pure light that erases flaws and transcends radiance to reveal a truly divine complexion.

The light revolution: "Stardust" technology. This magical, light-creating polymer contains a heavenly powder that transforms light invisible to the naked eye as if by alchemy, creating a perfecting halo upon contact with the skin. Instantly dispelled, lines and imperfections fades away. Beneath a veil of light, the face is illuminated.

Skin-perfecting radiance: a unique blend of colors. Since the very beginning, the signature corrective shades of our Meteorites have evened out the complexion, with mauve to catch the light, pink for youthful glow and yellow to offset excess redness. The dazzling pearls temper the shades' intensity and blend harmoniously for perfectly tailored luminosity. Even-toned with a natural finish, the complexion radiates perfection.

Feather-light radiance: an innovative texture. Meteorites pearls are delicately handcrafted using artisanal methods to provide the face with just the right amount of powder. They are Guerlain's coveted secret and prowess since 1987. Without build-up or visible coverage, the pearls harness light to reveal radiant skin. Nothing is left on the complexion but light. Offering ultimate luminosity, Meteorites pearls reveal, as if by magic, all the incredible radiance of divinely perfected skin. The complexion glows with purest light.

Dore offers the most smoldering harmony. This shade incorporates chocolate pearls with satin shimmers and vivid fuchsia pearls that revive radiance. Unifying beige pearls were added for deliciously beautiful skin.

How To Use: Sweep the pearls over the face with the Meteorites Brush, designed to pick up just the right amount of powder. Gently apply in circular strokes on prominent areas: forehead, nose, cheekbones, chin and decollete. This incomparable illuminating powder can be used alone or over foundation, and before blush or Terracotta bronzing powders to heighten their radiance.

Ingredients: Not indicated on packaging but from Sephora page, the ingredients are posted as follows - Talc, Nylon-12, Magnesium Myristate, Distarch Phosphate, Magnesium Carbonate, Hydrated Silica, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Starch, Silica, Parfum (fragrance), Meteorite Extract, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Aluminum Hydroxide, Glyceryl Stearate, Caprylyl Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Cellulose Gum, Sorbic Acid, Aplha-Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Benzoate, Linalool, Benzyl Alcohol, Limonene, Amyl Cinnamal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Geranoil, Cinnamyl Alcohol, [+/- Mica, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499 (Iron Oxides), CI 73360 (Red 30 Lake), CI 77007 (Ultramarines), CI 15850 (Red 6, Red 7 Lake), CI 42090 (Blue 1 Lake), CI 45410 (Red 28 Lake), CI 77000 (Aluminum Powder), CI 77163 (Bismuth Oxychloride), CI 77288 (Chromium Oxide Greens), CI 77289 (Chromium Hydroxide Green), CI 77510 (Ferric Ferrocyanide), CI 77742 (Magnesium Violet)].

Pros:
> Can be applied to certain parts of face for highlighting and can also be used all over the face to set up the makeup
> Can be worn alone or with foundation
> When I used it as a setting powder, my makeup lasted longer and my skin has this radiance without too much shimmer. It lasted for at least 8 hours.
> It has a rosy or pinkish color undertone so when I applied it all over my face, it has a pinkish glow
> My skin appeared more flawless and has even skin tone. My pores looked smaller and the texture of my skin looked smoother.
> Easy to use
> Smells really great, it can work as a perfume for me, I extend its use up to my neck and chest. The fragrance is floral-like.
> Can be used everyday and by anyone, the powder looks dark when applied but it is translucent
> I love using this on special occasions because it makes my makeup look that it is my natural skin.
> Evens out skin

Cons:
> Really expensive so I do not want to use this for everyday because I am afraid I may need to buy another can soon!
> Does not cover blemishes but it does evens out skin discoloration
> You need to be gentle on using a brush to swirl around the pearls because the pearls are delicate. There is a brush made from Guerlain designed to be used on this Meteorites Pearls but I haven't tried it yet.
> The scent is strong, it works with me but it may not sit well with others
> I do not use the puff included on the tin can because it puts too much powder on my face than what I need
> At first, I am disappointed that the puff got all the excess dust from the pearls and seems to be settling on the puff but I realized that it is better that way because without the puff to hold the pearls inside the tin can, most of the pearls will be broken. (Look at the photo of the puff below)

SWATCH:

Without application of Meteorites

It looks pinkish upon application, I used a powder brush for my swatch.

It blended with my skin after I blended it with the use of powder brush.

I know there is not much difference can be seen but if you will look closely, my pores looked smaller with the use of Meteorites. My skin also looked smoother in texture. (Check the photo above) I worn it over my matte liquid foundation. My skin has this glow without being too shimmery. (Refer to the photo below)

Buy again? 100% (The splurge is worth it for me.)
