PRODUCT REVIEW: NYX'S EYEBROW CAKE POWDER IN BRUNETTE
Some say that eyebrows are as important as a good set of teeth because it is a feature that can be immediately noticed. Eyebrows highlight a person's features and it frames our eyes better. To make you eyebrows look well-groomed, you need to take care of it either by plucking, threading, waxing, or shaving. For those who have sparse and thin eyebrows, there are makeup products invented to create an arch, make it thicker and lengthen it. The possibilities of creating and finding your desired shape of style is endless.
There are a lot of eyebrow products that you can choose from like eyebrow tints, mascaras, pencils, powders, pomade and cake powder. For this post, I will be sharing with you my review for one of the affordable cake powder in the market, the NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in the shade of Brunette.
The NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder are available in 6 shades namely: Taupe/Ash, Dark Brown/Brown, Brunette, Blond, Black/Grey and Auburn/Red. The shades most suitable for Filipinos are Taupe/Ash, Dark Brown/Brown and Brunette.
The kit includes wax, two colors of powder, a slanted brush and a spoolie. This kit is already complete with all the essentials and it is a good eyebrow product that you can bring when traveling.
The eyebrow kit weighs 2.65g and it only costs 390php. It is an affordable and great product that I can recommend for those who want to experiment with their brows.
My first impression on the kit is that the shades looked too dark for my eyebrows but it was not, they looked lighter once applied and you can easily build up the shade by adding more layers. The two colors of the powder look similar but don't be fooled, they are quite different. I use the darker shade for the edges of my brows while I use the lighter shade to fill up the sparse areas.
Light application makes my brows look natural but I can go for a bolder look if I build up the powder with more layers of application.
The texture of the powder is smooth and easy to apply. The product is unscented except for the scent of the wax included. The wax can shape my eyebrows in the right direction and those with bushy brows can appreciate the importance of the wax in the kit.
The lasting power is really great as I tested it during my work and it survived 16 hours without re-touching. Still, its easy to remove with a use of makeup remover or just by washing my face with was or soap.
I love that the kit comes in a complete set of powders, wax, brush and a spoolie. The slanted brush is stiff that its easy to use to line the edges of my brows. The spoolie is a little hard and you need to use it with a light hand but it can blend the eyebrow powder and tame the hair on my brows better.
The eyebrow cake powder kit can be used alone even without a full makeup on but it still works great when I applied it after foundation. It did not affect the look of the product.
My techniques in using this is by brushing my eyebrows with the spoolie first then I apply the wax to tame my hair into the right direction. Next step is by lining the edges of my brows with the darker shade before filling up the sparse areas using the lighter shade of powder. After that, I blend it with the spoolie again.
Overall, I am impressed with its color and lasting power. Plus the included brush and spoolie in the kit are useful and is of good quality. For the price of only 390php, this is a good buy. I recommend this NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in Brunette for girls with black or dark brown hair.
